About GDC Zanskar

Government Degree College Zanskar was established in the year 2013. Starting from three rooms of old and abandoned government Higher Secondary School building with mere 36 students enrolled in the inaugural year GDC Zanskar has evolved with leaps and bounds despite hard challenges like remote location, harsh climate, erratic communication network, suspension of road connectivity for more than six months etc. College moved to its own campus in 2019 which has an administrative block and academic block. Infrastructure: The college falls under Rashtrya Uchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA1.0 & RUSA 2.0) which has immensely helped in enhancing its infrastructure and currently in year 2023 the college has several projects being constructed in the campus which are as follows funded by district capex, SDP and RUSA 1. Laboratory Block 2. Girls Hostel 3. Boys Hostel 4. Gazetted Staff Quarter 5. Non Gazzetted Staff Quarter 6. Multi-Purpose Sports and Recreational Complex. A landscaping project for the college campus beautification has also been sanctioned.
